Industrial hoses and conveyor belts flex continuously in outdoor and low-temperature service, so the plasticizer has to combine cold flexibility, extraction resistance and processing stability. Blends of DOS / DOA with the DB series keep compounds flexible in cold conditions and extend flexing life, which suits cold-resistant hoses, belt covers and low-temperature flexible boards.

Dosage and processing direction
The cold-resistant additive is usually about 10%–30% of the plasticizer package together with the primary plasticizer, with the ratio confirmed by brittleness and flexing tests.
Keep temperature stable during mixing and extrusion so that localised under-gelation does not shorten flexing life.
Frequently asked questions
Does the cold-resistant additive affect oil resistance?
Aliphatic dibasic esters are not the strongest option for oil resistance, so the formulation should be evaluated as a whole against the media it will contact.
How is flexing life assessed?
Normally with a repeated flexing test, combined with cold conditions, using specimens taken from parts produced under the actual process.
